My Muse

muse is the source of inspiration for a creative work.  I definitely have that in my friend Samantha.  The girl is just all around inspiring (not to mention very bendy!) to me and everyone around her.  She gets an idea in her head and runs with it…no looking back.  I want to be more like her when I “grow up”.   Her latest idea involved dragging me out at 4:30 am.  If you know me, you know that I DO NOT get up at that hour unless of course I am going on vacation.  Only Samantha and Italy could get me up at that ungodly hour.  So here I am half awake, being led through a small forest and out onto a cliff ledge in the dark.  We were seriously climbing down the side of the cliff with flashlights and my camera attached to me.  That is the other thing about Sam, she makes you get outside of your comfort zone and think outside the box.

I am not quite sure I can explain exactly what I was doing up there at that hour but I will give it a shot.  The whole concept of this session, which is to be used for a future project, was sort of an awakening so it had to be done at sunrise.   It had to be raw and earthy, almost as if two beings just landed on earth.  It really felt that way too.  Spittal Pond is such a volcanic, rocky place with so many quirky elements to it that it was the perfect place to shoot.

Now, I have not mentioned our co conspirator, Monroe.  The man is just beautiful and, being a photographer, I am allowed to say that.  Monroe is a personal trainer and boy does it show.  He has the body all of us want.   He was also dragged into this by our lovely friend Sam.  How she got him into that outfit I will never know but he was such a good sport.  We had a lot of fun.  I look forward to seeing the end result of what Sam does with these and can’t wait to do more.

This one so makes me think of Mars…
