Happy Holidays!

I hope you are enjoying this holiday time with your family, reminiscing, laughing and creating new memories.  It has been a great Christmas for my family and we are looking forward to starting a brand new year filled with lots of new opportunities.  This Christmas, instead of bringing my camera and being in charge of taking photos all day, I let our Oh Snap photo booth do the work for me and boy did it turn out great!  I highly recommend it for any family function…especially the dysfunctional ones!  I hope this puts a smile on your face today. Enjoy!

It’s Been WAY Too Long!

Wow! I guess I am not very good at keeping up with this whole blogging thing am I?  Well, hopefully I am turning over a new leaf.  It has been a crazy, busy year (which I am very grateful for) and right now I am in the process of finishing up weddings and school projects and right on the heels of all that comes the mad Christmas rush. I have lots to blog so I will save some for the “slow season”of winter but for now I wanted to throw up a quick one just so you know that I am still alive.  These are a few favorites from some of my recent sessions.

Will You Marry Me?

Nicole and Justin have been together for about a year and a half now and doing the long distance thing. They have been back and forth from Boston to Bermuda.  They asked me to shoot their June wedding next year and also their engagement session.  We decided on Whale Bay so we would have the beach and the fort as the back drop.

The day before the session, Justin’s sister called me unexpectedly and told me that Justin was going to “propose” during the shoot.  Of course I was confused since they were already engaged and planning a wedding.  Apparently, Justin had asked her to marry him already but had given her a promise ring and had another ring ordered.  Nicole did not know about the other ring that was being specially made.  I was so excited to hear this news because I have always wanted to capture the proposal, as someone had done for me when I got engaged (many eons ago).  It is such a nice keepsake.

The day of the shoot was beautiful.  I have to say I was a bit nervous about the coordinating of the proposal. Of course, Justin and I would not be able to communicate about it in front of Nicole. I had told his sister to tell him to do it at the beginning to get it out of the way.  However, when we got down to the beach there were still a lot of people  there and I did not feel it would be private enough so we went up to the fort first.  At that point, I had no idea when he was going to do it.  Well, long story short, Justin was also nervous and did not know when to do it.  By the time we got down to the beach the sun was setting quickly. Then, the sun was down, the tide was coming up and he had still not asked her.  I started to think maybe he changed his mind or the ring did not come in after all when he finally got down on one knee and asked, “Will you marry me, Nicole?”.  Nicole was shocked and so overjoyed.  Of course she said yes.  It was a great moment!  I felt very honored to be there. Congratulations you two!

Two Crazy Kids in Love

This is a story about the girl from Bermuda who married the California surfer dude (who in reality does not surf).  Anne and Ben are a very fun couple who had a lovely wedding at Coral Beach Club. The ceremony was held at St. Mark’s Church complete with a horse and carriage to ride off into the sunset in.  It was an absolutely perfect day for a wedding.  Anne and Ben had all their most special friends and family around them to celebrate the occasion.  I remember asking them to “focus” a lot throughout the day because they couldn’t wait to get the photos done so they could get to their guests.  They really enjoyed their most special day to the fullest… as it should be.

Bliss

Ok, I am just going to say this…I may have said it before and I may even say it again…but as of right now, Ruth just might be my favorite bride ever!  (I know I am going to catch slack for that statement!)  She is what a bride should be, just purely, simply, deeply in love.  I have never seen a bride so bursting at the seams with joy… she radiated it.  She giggled and grinned through her entire wedding.  It was infectious. And why you ask is Ruth so darn happy?  Well, because she married the man of her dreams and her perfect fit.  Ulric, the dashing groom, was just as ecstatic and could not stop smiling. They both stayed in the moment and enjoyed every millisecond of their wedding day without sweating the small stuff.  It was a joy to watch and an honor to be a part of.  Ruth is a very loved teacher in our community and Ulric is a revered pastor.  Such giving people, there is not a couple who deserve happiness more. The church was packed to the gills and you could reach out and touch the love in the room… it was palpable. Ruth walked down the aisle like she was floating and you could tell people wanted to jump over the pews to hug her…. I did too.  It was a purely blissful day.  I just dare all of you future brides to be this happy…I double dog dare you!!!
