My Mom has been here for a visit for the last few weeks. My kids call her “Ahwa” because that was what Dylan called her as a baby and it stuck. The boys love when she is here because they can con her into anything. When Ahwa is around they get to hear “yes” more then they ever hear “no”. Then I get to deal with the fallout when she leaves. Anyway, I digress. So I recently purchased a new back drop that I needed to try out so I decided to take some photos of the boys with my Mom because I say we are going to do it every trip and we don’t. I rig up a “studio” set up in my garage, actually, so these are all in my garage with natural light. You would never know, huh?
Taking pictures of my kids is never easy. You would think so with them being children of a photographer, but not the case. Right off the bat we had an “incident” and tears (as you can see in Dylan’s bloodshot eyes and Ahwa trying to cheer him up). The boys fight, my Mom can’t smile properly to save her life, she has a bandaged hand (looooooong story) and Dylan had picked at his face moments before. If they were true models I would have fired them! Oh, and I forgot to mention the 20 family members that showed up for a family dinner in the middle of it all. It is a miracle I got anything at all.
I am glad we did it though because it really shows how big the kids are getting and their special relationship with Ahwa. Growing up, they always loved to wear her gasses so I had to get the shot with them all in her glasses. If there is one bit of advice I can give any parent, it is take lots of pictures. We can all get lazy with that, even me…especially me…. but you have to do it. I am so thankful I got these few to cherish.
